BTS Innovations LLC ("we", "us", or "our") built UV Index Dial: Sun Safety ("UV Index Dial", "UV Dial", or the "App") as a commercial application. This Privacy Policy explains how information is used when you use the App's UV index, sunscreen timer, burn forecast, sunscreen guide, Sun Scout AI, widgets, Apple Watch, HealthKit, and subscription features.

Our Core Privacy Principle

UV Index Dial is designed to collect as little personal information as possible. The App does not require an account. Most app settings and timer data stay on your device. Location is used to fetch local UV and weather conditions. Purchases are handled by Apple StoreKit. We do not sell your data or use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

Information We Do Not Collect

• Account registration details, because the App does not require an account
• Images, media files, or camera data
• Sun Scout chat transcripts
• Personal medical records
• Payment card details
• Browsing history or app usage analytics
• Advertising identifiers or tracking data

Information the App Uses

• Location, with your permission: Your device's latitude and longitude are used to request local UV index and weather forecast data through WeatherKit / Apple Weather. No account identifier is sent by the App. We do not store your location on our servers.
• Local app settings and timer data: Sunscreen timer choices, reminder preferences, saved settings, and related sun-safety preferences are stored on your device using Apple's app sandbox and UserDefaults.
• Sun Scout AI prompts: Sun Scout AI uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework where available. The App does not collect Sun Scout chat transcripts.
• HealthKit, with your permission: The App may read your Fitzpatrick skin type to personalize burn risk estimates and may save UV exposure samples when sunscreen timer activity is completed. HealthKit access is controlled by Apple Health permissions and can be changed in the Health app or iOS Settings.
• Purchase status: Apple StoreKit handles purchases and subscription status. We use StoreKit information to unlock subscription features, but we do not receive or store your payment card details.

Third-Party Services

UV Dial uses the following third-party services:

• Apple Weather / WeatherKit: UV Index Dial uses WeatherKit / Apple Weather to provide local weather and UV information. Location is used to request local forecasts and UV data. WeatherKit is designed so location information is used to provide weather forecasts and is not associated with personally identifiable information or tracked between requests by Apple. See Apple Weather data sources.
• Apple StoreKit: Subscription purchases and management are handled entirely by Apple's App Store infrastructure. We do not process or store payment information.
• Apple Intelligence / Foundation Models: Sun Scout AI uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework where available.
• Apple Health / HealthKit: HealthKit data access is handled through Apple's permission system and is used only for the sun safety features you enable.

We do not use any third-party analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

Data Storage

App settings, timer preferences, and sun-safety preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's standard app sandbox and UserDefaults. HealthKit data is stored in Apple Health under Apple's controls. If you delete the App, local app data is removed from your device, though Health data already saved to Apple Health may remain subject to your Apple Health settings.

Children's Privacy

UV Dial does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is designed as a family sun safety tool and does not require account creation or personal data entry.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share limited data only when needed to operate App features, such as using WeatherKit / Apple Weather for local UV/weather data or using Apple systems for subscriptions, Apple Intelligence, and HealthKit permissions.

Your Rights

Because we do not require an account or store App data on our servers, most App data is controlled from your device. You can change location, notification, HealthKit, and subscription permissions in iOS Settings, Apple Health, and your Apple ID / App Store account.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
